Triple H on women's wrestling in WWE: 'We have the ability to change the world'

Triple H - the savior of wrestling version, not the evil sports entertainment one - got a lot of mic time this weekend when NXT was center stage at WWE Hall of Famer Arnold Schwarzenegger's sports festival, The Arnold Classic.

During the in-ring Q & A you can see a portion of above, Hunter was asked by Karen Van Zant of Cincinnati's Mix94.9 Morning Misfits radio show if women's tag titles might be in WWE's future (Van Zant doesn't specify main roster or NXT). His brief answer serves as a mission statement for his vision of women's wrestling:

I believe this, there's no ceiling to it... I don't see it as any different... People shift, the way they see things shift.

A year ago, nobody would've saw women main eventing a pay-per-view. And they did. A year ago nobody would've saw us doing a 30 minute Iron Man match, but they did.

We have the ability to change the world. I want to change that perception and I want them to have the same platform that everybody else does.

So, to me, yeah, can there be? Yes. Can there be anything? Absolutely.

As to the original question, NXT has the roster to do a women's pairs division, but Raw and SmackDown likely don't without a major influx of talent. And neither #DivasRevolution nor the men's tag scene gives us much reason for optimism in terms of how the ladies might be booked.

Overall, however, Trips answer is exactly what you want to hear if you're a fan of the art form, regardless of the gender of the performers. It's a person with serious power in the biggest company in the history of the business - and therefore serious power in the entire industry - saying women's wrestling should be booked and promoted exactly the same way as men's wrestling.

It's also why a lot of people just can't bring themselves to boo this guy these days.

What do you think of Trips comments, Cagesiders? Or his big, crowd-pleasing weekend at The Arnold ahead of working as a villain on Raw tonight?
