Why Daniel Bryan was pulled from WWE UK tour

Earlier today, it came out that Daniel Bryan was pulled from this weekend's WWE house show run, including a scheduled "Appreciation Night" at Madison Square Garden in New York. Later, it was revealed he was also pulled from the upcoming tour of the United Kingdom post-WrestleMania 32.

As of now, the only appearance he's still advertised for is a signing at WrestleMania Axxess.

PW Insider got a statement from WWE on the matter explaining what happened:

"Daniel Bryan requested time off and it was granted."

It seemed strange, to say the least, that he was brought back so soon after his retirement as though he never retired at all, despite the fact he can't wrestle. It's also unclear why exactly he took time off.
