WWE SmackDown results, live blog (Mar. 17, 2016): Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles

WWE SmackDown comes waltzing back into our lives tonight (Mar. 17, 2016) from Cincinnati, Ohio with a taped show on the USA Network featuring all the latest build to the WrestleMania 32 pay-per-view (PPV) extravaganza scheduled for next month in Arlington, Texas.

Because SmackDown is a taped show, you can simply go read the spoilers to know everything that happens (find them by clicking here). We will provide results below.

You can use this space to discuss all the events as they occur, however, and it's probably going to enhance your viewing experience. In fact, I know it is because we're a lot of fun around here.

Enjoy the show!

SMACKDOWN RESULTS

What's up, folks? Kyle here ready to watch SmackDown with you all. So hang on out and check out a show that will most likely be better than Raw.

Then. Now. Forever.

Replay of Triple H and Roman Reign's Brawl is aired.

Roman Reigns Promo

The show opens with Roman Reigns who once again comes out from the entrance. Initial crowd reaction sounds mixed even with the possibility of editing.

Roman talks about how he believes in the "big fight" which is why Triple H isn't here. Sure, Trips is still the champ, but Roman is in his ring, at his show, eating his catering. And it will be that way until they are together so he can beat his ass again. He will destroy Triple H at WrestleMania. Believe that.

Short promo from the Big Dog tonight.

They show a video recap of the AJ Styles/Chris Jericho program thus far.

Renee Young interviews AJ Styles. He says it's ridiculous that Jericho is upset fans are chanting for AJ because in the WWE, fans can chant for whomever they want. He is interrupted by Kevin Owens. KO says AJ sounds like Sami... "This guy attacked me and made it personal." He says both AJ and Sami are stupid because they take things too personally. Surprisingly enough, KO reminds AJ of Jericho. Styles says he's going to shut Owens up in their match tonight. (A match that very well turn into a tag team match including Jericho and Sami.)

Oh and on the way out, Owens tells Styles he has the same haircut as Renee Young.

Dolph Ziggler vs. the Miz

Dolph starts the match out with a more amateur/mat wrestling style. Dolph has full control for much of the early part of the match as he switches to a quicker style. Miz gets a couple shots in but Dolph maintains control until a hard front first Irish whip by the Miz into the corner turns the tide. The show goes to commercial with Miz on top.

SmackDown returns with Miz still in charge of things. Dolph is able to fire back and it becomes a back and forth affair. Miz hits a big boot and sets up for a Skull Crushing Finale which Ziggler slides out of. Miz locks in the Figure Four but Ziggler is eventually able to make the ropes. He holds the ropes as Miz tries to pull him off. Dolph is holding too tight and the ref pulls Miz back since Dolph has the ropes. The Show Off gets up, hits Miz with a Super Kick, and gets the 1 - 2- 3.

Dolph Ziggler defeats the Miz via pinfall

Recap of the Ryback/Kalisto feud

Recap of the Ambrose/Lesnar/Mick Foley segments from Monday

They play a video from earlier today of Ambrose out in Cincinnati. He says Brock has been training for a fight his whole life - NCAA, UFC, WWE - but here in Cincinnati, you fight for your life all your life. It's WrestleMania all the time. He's learned to survive and Cincinnati and he's going to pass this lesson onto Brock at Mania.

Bubba Ray Dudley vs. Goldust

Mauro says this match is the first time these two have ever met up one on one, which is somewhat surprising given the amount of time these men have logged in WWE.

As the match starts, Devon takes a table from under the ring, which grabs Goldust's attention and Bully Ray uses that to take early advantage. Bubba goes after Goldust while he talks some trash, calling Goldy a "freak" and pointing out that he's ridiculous for painting his face like the Usos. He mocks the Dusty Rhodes punches, which fires up Goldust who goes on the attack.

The fight spills outside and Goldust ends up punching Devon who tries to distract him. As Dust is getting into the ring, Bubba kicks him for the 1-2-3. (I rewound my DVR 3 times to make sure that he got the pin off a kick.)

Bubba Ray defeats Goldust via pinfall

After the match, both Dudleys beat up Goldust and R-Trush runs down to help. However, he's laid out by the Dudleys as well. Then the Usos run down and the two team brawls and the Dudleys end up bailing.

Charlotte, Becky Lynch, & Sasha Banks segment

Charlotte and Ric Flair come to the ring. Charlotte talks up the past relationship of her, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks. She said she wouldn't be standing here today if it weren't for the two of them. She invites them down to the ring.

Becky responds first wearing a t-shirt and jeans... it's weird to see her in normal clothing since she's always in her steampunk gear. Charlotte asks where Becky's BFF is and Becky says she doesn't do best friends any more since her last one. Before they could say much, the Boss decides to saunter on down and join the party.

Charlotte says "Its about time you showed up" and Sasha reminds her she's not on Charlotte's schedule but on her own. Charlotte plays up the past, telling them how her father told her in NXT the women reminded him of the Horseman and as time went on, Charlotte wanted to call themselves the Horsewomen. The champ says that she actually brought them down to apologize.

She then apologies to Ric for ever thinking these two were are worthy of being called Horsewomen.

Becky says she thought there could still be a thread of human decency in Charlotte but she was wrong watching Charlotte throw away all they did. She says she's going to rip off Charlotte's arm and take the title.

The Boss takes exception to that, reminding them who pinned Charlotte for the NXT Women's Championship and reminded them she's NEVER been beaten on the main roster. So she deserves to be here unlike Becky. Becky says the only reason she's not champ is because or Ric Flair. Becky goes on to say that where she comes from it takes more than dollar store jewelry to be a boss.

They look to start to fight each other but instead both attack Charlotte - Becky with a exploder suplex and Sasha with a back stabber. Team BAE stand in the ring at the end.

New Day come to the ring with bags of trash.

Xavier Wood's says since Monday they've been recouping by eating their Booty O's. Xavier is about to say they are calm, but Big E is angry and he screams that they'll see the League of Nations at WrestleMania. Kofi says even though the LoN dropped them on Monday, they are still four bags of garbage and then make fun of each member and then punt the trash bags out of the ring.

Wade Barrett (with the rest of the League) vs. Kofi Kingston (with the rest of the New Day)

Kofi has early control and gets a one man Unicorn Stampede on Barrett, but Barrett slides out of the ring as SmackDown goes to break.

SmackDown returns as Wade Barrett gets control with a big boot because Kofi is distracted by the League on the outside. Kofi uses his speed to get some offensive in, including a sweet reversal the Winds of Change into a DDT. Del Rio tries to distract Kofi but Woods confronts him. The League and new Day feud on the outside and the LoN take out Woods and E.

The League climb up on three sides of the ring apron but E and Woods get up and pull down Rusev and ADR. Sheamus gets a kick from Kofi. Barrett runs at Kingston, but Kofi rolls him up and grabs the tights for the win.

Kofi Kingston defeats Wade Barrett via pinfall

They show another Dean Ambrose video. This time he's at Madonna's bar in Cincinatti. He says you learn a lot about yourself at a place like this, thinking about all the fights you've won and lost. You get to thinking about fighting for bigger prizes but learn you don't fight for prizes but pride. That's what Dean is going to fight for at WrestleMania. He says Brock doesn't know what a street fight is but he'll learn.

Video package of the McMahons/Undertaker segment from Raw. They clearly don't include the "You're going to hit me. I'm going to miss" and they don't include Undertaker's "These fists... are my legacy" as well.

Dean Ambrose/Social Outcasts segment with brief Ambrose promo

#SocialOutcasts are sitting on the apron. Heath Slater refers to them as Top Grade talent. Bo says that they are going to win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal together. The rest of them say they are going to win it. Adam Rose is tired of listening to Axel's battle royal crap and the dumb chopping thing.

Ambrose's music plays and he comes out with a kendo stick. He takes all the members of the Outcasts out with it. Afterwards, he gets a microphone and says he was hanging out in Cincinnati today when he heard the rumor that Brock Lesnar is going to be on SmackDown next week. The Lunatic Fringe says he'll be waiting for him in the middle of the ring when Lesnar shows up.

Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles

A sweet looking drop kick early on gives AJ an early advantaged but when Styles goes for the Phenomenal Elbow, KO catches him and gut busts him. KO kicks AJ out of the ring as SmackDown goes to commercial.

The show returns with Kevin in control. They show clips from during the break of KO tossing AJ around on the outside. KO goes for a senton on AJ but Styles gets his knees up. He then tries to shoulder block Styles in the corner but the Phenomenal One moves and KO slams his shoulder against the post as he goes out of the ring.

AJ has control when KO makes his wait into the ring. He goes for the Styles Clash but KO back body drops AJ. AJ still has control of the match though including a sweet forearm he hits jumping over rope on KO on the outside. KO gets control and hits a slam from the Package Piledrive position and Ranallo acknowledges the move. Back and forth action leave both men down and out.

Both men trade hits in the middle of the ring. Owens hits a super kick and tosses AJ against the ropes for the Pop Up Powerbomb. AJ jumps clean over KO and hits him with the Pele kick! AJ makes his way to the top rope but Owens gets up to meet him. Styles fights Owens off of him but KO is up again to go at AJ. AJ fights KO off again and sets up for the Phenomenal Forearm when Jericho's music hits and Y2J slowly walks out.

KO uses the distraction to hit the Pop Up Powerbomb to get the win.

Kevin Owens defeats AJ Styles via pinfall.

Jericho gets into the ring while Styles is still down from the powerbomb and picks him up for a Code Breaker! He then gets on the mic and does his mocking "AJ Styles" chant over and over and over again.

That's the show everyone. Thanks for watching with us. The two hours seems to go by very quickly as opposed to the three hours of Raw.
