WWE Roadblock 2016 results: The Revival retain NXT Tag Team Championship

All of the bad blood between these two teams came to a head on Saturday night. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady came up a little short yet again.

WWE Roadblock featured the first-ever main roster live special defense of the NXT Tag Team Championship. The Toronto crowd was extremely familiar with Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady, who even had Carmella in tow. Unfortunately, the gold once again eluded arguably the most popular act in NXT history.

In keeping with their lack of flash, Dash and Dawson -- AKA the reigning champs The Revival -- received a lackluster reaction, but the crowd was so behind Enzo and Cass that it didn't really matter.

Enzo and Cass took over early with some big offense that included Cassady throwing Enzo a real long way, but The Revival used some smashmouth tactics to regain momentum and work over Amore for minutes on end. Enzo finally managed to get the hot tag and Big Cass cleaned house.

Cass hit the East River Crossing and went for Air Enzo, but Dawson managed to trip Enzo up on the top rope. Cass went for Dawson, who hid behind Carmella and managed to delay long enough for the two men to hit the Shatter Machine on Cassady on the outside. The champs went for the kill, but Amore hit a massive top-rope DDT on Dash and rolled up Dawson, but could only get two.

Enzo and Dawson went toe to toe, but Dash made a blind tag and another Shatter Machine gave the win to the champs.

Now Enzo and Big Cass will be looking for something else to do at NXT TakeOver: Dallas the Friday before WrestleMania.

Dash and Dawson, meanwhile, will hold the belts heading into what might be NXT biggest event of the year. They'll need challengers, of course, but given the deep NXT tag roster, that shouldn't be a problem. In fact, a couple of American Alphas immediately spring to mind as perfect opponents.
