New Japan's NEVER Openweight Six-Man champs the Elite of the Bullet Club have been talking about WWE's tag team titleholders the New Day a lot over the past few weeks.
Unfortunately, returning fire and giving WWE airtime to wrestlers in another promotion is not something Vince McMahon is going to allow. While there's been hope for Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston & Big E to continue the feud with a promo or reference, it's always been unlikely.
So, I may be grasping at straws here, but I think New Day worked a couple of shots into their mic time on and after Raw last night (Feb. 29).
Exhibit A: The "brotherhood" promo before their match with Y2AJ, wherein Xavier Woods says "We are the best three man team in history and we will fight anyone on the planet who thinks otherwise," while E agrees "anyone, anyone".
Exhibit 2: Is there any other explanation for Big E's sweeping throughout their Fallout segment with JoJo? Or calling himself "The best Cleaner you've ever seen" (context)?
Plus, the guys exit to go film UpUpDownDown, the YouTube channel which Omega believes allowed Woods to usurp his identity as the "wrestler who games" and the only place where the rivals have met head-to-head?
Sure, we're not getting a New Day vs. Elite match any time soon.
But this might be even more fun.
