AJ Styles has only been in WWE for a little more than a month, but he's picking up on how things work pretty quickly.
After he and his new best buddy Chris Jericho teamed with Mark Henry to win a six-man tag against The New Day on last week's SmackDown, on the Feb. 29 Raw, the duo calling themselves Y2AJ earned a non-title match against the tag team champions.
Big E, Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods hit the ring for their usual pre-match promo, hugging out their brotherhood and declaring the New Day the most dominant team in wrestling (shots fired at League of Nations, Edge & Christian and - in a veiled way - the Elite of the Bullet Club).
But that didn't help them pull out a win against Styles & Jericho. And after Kofi tapped to the Walls, the Phenomenal One hit the champs with his understanding of how things work in the 'E...
If you win a non-title match over the champs, you get a match for the belts.
Turns out that Southern boy is no dummy, as later on Raw we learned that next Monday night, Styles will get a shot at his first gold in his new company, when he and the Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla square off with New Day again, with the titles on the line.
How's this working for you, Cagesiders? Should this program continue to WrestleMania? Should LoN get involved? Is it a waste of Styles?
