John Cena makes his big return to WWE television tonight (Dec. 27, 2016) on a jam-packed episode of SmackDown Live in Chicago. We don’t yet know what he’s there for, but because it’s almost January it’s time to start talking about what he’ll be doing at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando next year.
It seems like rumors of his squaring off with Undertaker have persisted forever and in an interview with ESPN he was asked about it. His response, corporate as ever:
"Undertaker certainly is a cornerstone of WWE, and just as I say to myself that I really would have liked to been able to get to know and certainly get in the ring with Andre the Giant, just because of all the respect and folklore that went around with Andre, I think The Undertaker has that same sort of respect and folklore around him. If you're asking if I'd want to be in a high-profile match with one of the most legendary superstars in the industry, my answer is yes."
For his part, Undertaker showed up just before Survivor Series to say WrestleMania would no longer define his legacy while declaring he was “back” but we haven’t seen him since. Perhaps tonight is the night?
Would you want Cena vs. Undertaker?
