WWE announces two hour special edition of NXT for Dec. 28

WWE.com

With no new tapings scheduled until Thursday, Jan. 5 (and since they’re sitting on the tag title match they filmed at the last one until Jan. 18), fans were wondering how NXT was going to fill the next couple Wednesdays.

Looks like it will be with material shot during their shows in Osaka, Japan and Melbourne, Australia on their recent Pacific tour.

We’ve already seen parts of the Samoa Joe vs. Shinsuke Nakamura bouts on both those cards and, at least on Wednesday, Dec. 28, we’ll get to see more of Nak reclaiming the NXT title from Joe in his homeland. That show will be two hours long, and feature action from these bouts:

- Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Samoa Joe for the NXT championship
- Asuka vs. Nia Jax for the NXT Women’s championship
- #DIY vs. Tajiri & Akira Tozawa for the NXT Tag Team titles
- Liv Morgan & Aliyah vs. Billie Kay & Peyton Royce
- Oney Lorcan vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas

Word is the following week will feature matches from Melbourne, but WWE hasn’t officially announced details yet, so it’s not clear if it will be another double-sized edition or what matches they’ll show aside from the steel cage title match we already saw parts of on the Dec. 14 episode.

Excited for more NXT action in a unique atmosphere? Or a little bummed we’re getting two weeks with little to no storyline advancement?
