In 2016, Corey Graves inherited the list of “Five” YouTube gimmick from his NXT announce partner Tom Phillips, but that ranks pretty low on the list of amazing things that happened in WWE this year.
The latest edition features the Superstars who won the most televised matches in the company over the course of 2016 (with one week and two shows to go, the order could move around, but still) - and it points a spotlight on a few of those more amazing stories.
Turn the clock back to WrestleMania 32, where Dean Ambrose lost a toothless, one-sided street fight to Brock Lesnar and AJ Styles was pinned by Chris Jericho, and you probably wouldn’t have predicted they’d be atop these rankings... let alone two of the biggest stars on wrestling’s hottest show. Heck, we didn’t even know there was going to be a brand split, which created more openings for main eventers while also prohibiting wrestlers from picking up multiple victories during the average week.
But still, nobody was predicting the Lunatic Fringe and the Champ Who Runs the Camp would have more wins on TV than Roman Reigns back in January.
Here’s the list Graves breaks down in the above video:
5. Big E - 30
4. Kevin Owens - 31
3. Roman Reigns - 33
1. (tie) Dean Ambrose - 37
1. (tie) AJ Styles - 37
That’s, dare I say it, phenomenal.
Thoughts? Predictions for next year? You know what to do, Cagesiders.
