It’s been years since Rey Mysterio did anything with WWE and while he’s flirted with the idea of a return in the past, and there were even reports claiming the company contacted him this past summer, he’s not ready to make a move just yet. That’s because he’s nice and comfy with his situation in Lucha Underground.
As he told Sports Illustrated:
"You never say never. but I am very, very comfortable in the position I'm in with Lucha Underground. I love their schedule, I love their style, I love what they have to offer. I don't think there will ever be another company that has what Lucha Underground has. It's very unique, exciting, and fresh—this is really something new."
WWE could certainly use the depth, especially on SmackDown Live, where he would instantly be a top star, but his age and the wear-and-tear on his body would likely prevent his being used in the way he prefers.
Maybe someday, when the timing is right.
Let’s be real: someday, when the timing is right.
