Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho

Seth Rollins has a big battle in front of him, an epic confrontation where he will need to muster all he has. It may be the biggest feud of Rollins’ already impressive career. And the man he’ll be facing? Triple H.

What? You didn’t think it was tonight’s opponent Chris Jericho, did you?

No, Jericho is just the man that Rollins needs to beat so he can beat the guy he needs to beat in order to get the chance to fight Triple H.

This started on Aug. 29, during a fatal 4-way elimination match to crown a new Universal champion involving Big Cass, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Kevin Owens. At the end of the match, Triple H returned after months away, costing Seth Rollins the title, handing it to Kevin Owens.

Two weeks ago Seth Rollins, decided to finally set his sights on Triple H. (He slept on it for a bit.) His plan is to draw out the Game by defeating Kevin Owens. But Kevin Owens’ best friend Chris Jericho has been KO’s major insurance policy. Owens has Y2J to thanks for many of his wins. Seth Rollins knows all about that.

At Clash of Champions, Seth couldn’t defeat Kevin Owens for the title due to excessive interference from Chris Jericho.

At Hell in a Cell during another championship match, Chris Jericho found his way into the cell and got involved to make sure Kevin Owens retained the title.

On Raw a few weeks back, Chris Jericho, despite being banned from ringside, interfered from the crowd wearing a Sin Cara mask. (Though it may have been Sin Cara wearing the Mask of Jericho... he put it on, maaaan.)

So despite the fact that now Kevin and Chris seeming to be having some pretty big problems, you can understand why Seth wants to get Chris out of the way before he focuses on Owens. However, that Chris Jericho is a durable one.

Seth Rollins already performed the ol’ parking garage beat down, which culminated with a Pedigree on the top of a car, to Jericho. But Chris was back the next week, looking little worse for the wear. That makes one wonder what Seth Rollins is going to have to do to really get Chris out of the picture before he focuses on the champ. Is he looking to beat him so bad that Jericho can’t come to work? Or is he hoping that he can continue to drive a wedge between the super best friends?

Tonight, he’ll have a chance to get rid of the first obstacle on the way to Triple H. Will he succeed in his plan to get Kevin Owens one on one? Or will his journey not even get off the ground?
