Kevin Owens made a kid cry, and his mom got really mad about it

Kevin Owens heeled on a child, as heels should

Kevin Owens is a heel, as much as you might want to cheer him. Boos are what he’s after, and one way to get boos is to be a straight-up jerk to fans — especially young fans.

Specifically, this seven-year-old who was wearing a Roman Reigns shirt, who just so happens to be the wrestler Owens is feuding with at the moment:

In case you can’t hear the audio with the theme blaring, that’s Owens telling this fan to buy his shirt, then changing his mind to say that he doesn’t want the kid to “wear a Kevin Owens shirt, ever.”

The mother of the seven-year-old boy did not take kindly to this, responding to the heel attack through “social media” with a lengthy note. (You can find the full transcript of that note here.*):

All night he was getting high fives from other wrestlers and was all smiles but for some reason when Kevin Owens came out he singled out my son and commented on who’s shirt he was wearing then told him “you should get this shirt. Actually don’t get this shirt I don’t want you to ever wear my shirt. Don’t you ever try to touch me.” All because my 7 year old wanted a high five and wasn’t wearing his shirt. My heart sank. He became visibly upset, sat down and kept staring at the gate. I couldn’t help it I started crying.

We can answer the “for some reason” statement posed by the mother: because we live in an age where someone is always filming and waiting to post something like this, because heels are supposed to be hated, and because going after your son is sure to turn some people against Kevin Owens the next time he’s in town, prompting boos.

It’s okay if mom is mad and her child is upset! That means Kevin Owens was doing his job. Owens going after him is even more reason for this kid to embrace the faces he loves and jeer the big bads. This is some wrestling 101 stuff, and in an era where heels are continually cheered for being so talented (Owens) or for having great entrances (Bobby Roode) or because they’re wrestling Roman Reigns (everyone), it’s even more important to find those visceral, hate-based boos.

Owens didn’t just stop there, either, as he posted a series of tweets early Monday morning making fun of not just the mother and her kid, but also ripping on a number of other types of fans that annoy him and will hopefully start booing him.

Owens is the best. Er, uh, boo. Boo to you, sir.

*There is no link to the mother’s Facebook page (or whichever social media page) within that SEC Scoops post, but that’s okay in the sense that she doesn’t need people going to her social media accounts to tell her she’s getting worked, either.
