Rhyno loses his bid for Michigan state House seat

Reminder: We cover the outside activities of all kinds of wrestlers or celebrities with WWE ties, but we’re a wrestling site first and foremost. The comments aren’t a place for partisan political debate (or worse) - please play nice.

Another WWE-connected Republican’s strong showing in Michigan didn’t transfer down-ballot enough to help SmackDown tag champ Terrance "Rhyno" Guido Gerin.

Despite some early reporting from the Associated Press which declared Gerin a winner in his quest to defeat Abdullah Hammoud for the 15th District seat in Michigan's House of Representatives, the Man-Beast came up well short at the ballot box. According to Michigan Live, with all 48 Wayne County precincts reporting, Hammoud has 18,097 votes to 9,999 for Rhyno.

The campaign was even more of an uphill battle for Gerin than the one which saw him return to WWE and become a champion with perennial enhancement talent Slater. He was seeking to become the first Republican to win the seat since 1988.

Rhyno received coverage for his campaign from WWE and the national media due to his wrestling career, and brought in names like Kurt Angle to work on his behalf, but it wasn’t enough.

Now he can focus all his energy on helping Team Blue win the ten-man tag elimination match at Survivor Series.
