The stakes were high when Brian Kendrick came to the Air Canada Centre at Survivor Series tonight (Sun., Nov. 20, 2016) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, as he wasn’t just defending his cruiserweight championship, he was defending the entire division’s right to stay on Monday Night Raw. Kalisto, the challenger, was attempting to bring it to SmackDown Live.
The fans had a hard time getting into this one.
It wasn’t for lack of effort. In fact, they delivered a couple of great high-risk spots. Still, there were “change the channel” chants — for a match to decide what channel the cruiserweights would be on. The lack of reaction when Kendrick appeared to have the match won with the Captain’s Hook and Kalisto got to the rope said a lot.
He made a furious comeback just after but before he could complete it, Baron Corbin showed up out of nowhere and laid everybody out. The referee called for the bell and Kendrick was awarded the victory.
The cruiserweight division will stay on Raw.
