Instead of getting his rematch for the Intercontinental championship against Dolph Ziggler at Survivor Series, The Miz got it on the historic 900th episode of SmackDown Live tonight (Nov. 15, 2016) in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. It kicked off the show.
Miz was, as promised, doing plenty of cheating early on. The referee was hip to his ways, however, and caught him each time. Then he went after Daniel Bryan, mocking him with the “YES” kicks while Maryse worked the chant on the outside. That led to a Skull Crushing Finale and a close two count.
But it wasn’t enough.
Naturally, the Spirit Squad showed up to get involved and that helped Miz get Ziggler in position for the Figure Four. Even then, though, Dolph got to the bottom rope to break the hold.
What finally turned the tide was Maryse, who, after Ziggler rolled Miz up near the ropes, pushed the two over so it was Miz pinning Ziggler’s shoulders to the mat. That got the three count to give us a new Intercontinental champion.
Miz will go on to wrestle Sami Zayn for the title at Survivor Series this coming Sunday night in Toronto.
