It’s been rumored and reported that WWE is heavily interested in Conor McGregor making a guest appearance on television sometime in the future. And what better time than now? He just knocked out Eddie Alvarez to become the first ever simultaneous two division champion (featherweight and lightweight) at UFC 205 this past weekend.
Triple H was in attendance for it and when The Telegraph asked about his having interest in McGregor, he had this to say:
"He could come over, he's got it all, man - he's got the personality, the skills, the talk. He's an entertainer, for sure. What does he walk around at? 180lbs? I have smaller guys now in the WWE. We have 200lb guys who are stars. You don't need to be 300lbs any more. He could do just as well as Floyd Mayweather when he fought the Big Show. That really worked. Conor could do it for sure."
That makes it sound like they’re thinking of an actual match but either way, McGregor has shown himself to be a fantastic promo who can sell fights better than anyone in MMA today. Even a one-off appearance at a WrestleMania would mean a ton of publicity for WWE.
Time will tell if they can make it happen.
