For whatever reason, WWE decided to run an eight-man tag team match on the Kickoff Show at tonight’s (Sun., Oct. 9, 2016) No Mercy event at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. That meant the Jack Swagger vs. Baron Corbin match was moved up to the main pay-per-view (PPV) card.
It wasn’t suddenly worthy of the bump, considering the story has been thin. Swagger showed up on SmackDown Live, wanted a fight, and Corbin was bored with beating up Kalisto.
So he beat up Swagger.
There wasn’t much to the match. The idea was Swagger gave Corbin everything he could handle, enough so that Baron had to take advantage of a distracted referee to poke Jack in the eye before hitting End of Days to score the pin.
And that’s that.
