When Total Divas ended its fifth season, it did so drawing 625,000 viewers for the E! channel back in April. Before it returns for a sixth season, there will be a six-episode run for a spin-off show, Total Bellas.
It debuted last night and while the big premiere certainly didn’t blow away expectations in the ratings, numbers were comparable to that of the original show.
Indeed, episode one drew 632,000 viewers.
That’s not a knock on the quality of the program. The Bella twins are better reality stars than wrestlers and they dynamic of Brie and Daniel Bryan moving in with Nikki and John Cena has already provided for great television. This includes Cena laying out house rules that include texting him if the plan is to be up late because “this is a shoot first state and I have a lot of guns.”
There’s no telling what the next five episodes hold, or if viewership will hold up leading into Total Divas season six, but fans of good reality TV should want it to.
