Earlier today, Monday Night Raw General Manager Mick Foley took to his Facebook page to write up a few words on this week’s episode, which featured a prominent poster placement for the historic Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte Hell in a Cell match. In said post, he mentioned that said match will be the main event of the pay-per-view (PPV) on Oct. 30, 2016, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Not so fast.
He has since updated the post to say he actually doesn’t know:
Mick's note: I have no idea which match will go on last, or which match will go down in history as being the official main event. The Universal Championship match between Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins is shaping up to be something special, and I am sure both men will be doing their best to steal the show – which is as it should be. In the end, the main event is whatever each fan decides it is.
Either Foley saw the response his post got — such as sites like ours and ESPN running the story — and wanted to make clear it wasn’t official word, or the higher ups at WWE saw the response and asked him to. Either way, this is a pretty lame cop out and the main event is absolutely not “whatever each fan decides it is.”
Then again, I don’t really know what a “main event” is anymore, and neither does WWE, so does it really matter?
