There was a time when it looked like AJ Styles would go his entire career without a run through WWE and his greatest achievements would be in Japan and, perhaps more widely known, TNA. Now, the latter company is on the verge of being sold and a lot of its talent could be losing their jobs while Styles has become WWE world champion and is doing great things on SmackDown Live.
When asked if he would want some of his old co-workers to join him via WWE buying TNA, Styles told The Phoenix New Times he prefers the competition:
"I don't know. I think that I would love for them to be them and us to be us. Competition's a good thing and to see some of my friends maybe losing their jobs, that's never good. So I would love to see them continue to exist and do so."
The pro wrestling business is better off with WWE facing strong competition but there are very real concerns regarding TNA and its ability to be that. The best case scenario may actually be WWE buying them out and a new promotion taking its place.
