Leading into the No Mercy pay-per-view (PPV) this past weekend, WWE was teasing the idea of doing a No Disqualification match pitting Nikki Bella against Carmella. It would make sense for their feud, after all, and it’s not something we see often in the women’s division.
They opted to run a straight singles match, and it was fine. Nikki won clean and there wasn’t much to be said about it after. The feud didn’t end there, however, as Carmella has continued her attacks.
So, naturally, talk of a No DQ match quickly started up again:

As Bryan mentions, they missed their window to make an impact doing something outside the norm in the women’s division. That’s because over on Monday Night Raw, Sasha Banks was booked to defend her title against Charlotte in the first ever women’s Hell in a Cell match.
Oh well!
It still makes sense for WWE to escalate Nikki and Carmella’s issue with a strong gimmick match, though Bella will likely be at least somewhat limited thanks to her neck surgery. Here’s to hoping they finally pull the trigger on it.
