With Asuka having defeated every challenger in her path since her debut in September of last year, it seemed difficult for NXT to find an opponent for her to face at TakeOver: Toronto, but after years of bringing back many male part time stars, WWE finally gave a call to one of its most iconic women's wrestlers from its past to take on Asuka at the network special: Mickie James!
This will be James' first appearance back in a WWE ring since she was released from the company in April of 2010. During her time away from, she worked primarily for TNA, holding the Knockouts Championship on three separate occasions. As well as making appearances all over the world on the independent scene since leaving TNA, she's made appearances as a guest trainer at WWE's Performance Center and recorded two country albums, "Strangers & Angels" and "Somebody's Gonna Pay."
