News broke just yesterday that Paige was suspended for 60 days by WWE for her second violation of the company’s Wellness Policy. She quickly took to social media to speak out against her treatment, and it wasn’t long after that both of her parents followed suit. In particular, her father claimed she was taking painkillers for a neck injury and implied that may have been what caused her violation.
Then, just today, her brothers went public with news her pending neck surgery could be career ending while also blaming painkillers for her failed test. The implication all around is that WWE hasn’t done enough to care for Paige’s injury.
In a statement released to the New York Post today, WWE responded in the strongest possible terms:
“Saraya-Jade Bevis tested positive for an illegal substance, not a prescription drug. In addition, WWE is providing world-class medical care for her in-ring injury.”
This continues the very public battle between the two sides, one that doesn’t appear as though it will end anytime soon. Paige had previously stated she has no plans on leaving WWE. We’ll see if this situation changes that.
