The McMahons hate Roman Reigns. For a variety of reasons, they want nothing more than to see him fail.
What better way to begin his failure than all but ensuring that Roman loses his championship at Royal Rumble? As such, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line in Sunday's titular match. The entire WWE roster will be gunning for the champ.
Still, Roman is a very good wrestler, so he just might defy the odds and win the Royal Rumble for the second year in a row.
To temper this possibility, Vince and Stephanie McMahon staged a rather transparently rigged drawing that locked Roman into the dreaded #1 entry spot. Now he's going to have to last the entirety of the Rumble to keep his title. Not likely.
Of course, it is still possible that Roman Reigns could overcome the overwhelming obstacles that have been placed before him to retain his WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
This is where the cunning of the McMahon family really comes into focus.
Roman Reigns currently stands at atop the Wrestler Wrankings with 102 points. A total of 1,174 Wrankings points have been awarded to the entire WWE this season. That means that Roman has earned 8.7% of the all the Wrankings points. That's a very impressive total.
If Roman wins the Rumble, he'll still top the Wrankings with 112 points, but since the Rumble match is an official WWE World Heavyweight Championship bout, all 29 other Superstars are also getting 6 point bumps, just for competing. Therefore, the overall pool of points will grow to 1,358. Therefore, Roman’s percentage of the total Wrankings pie will drop all the way down to 8.2%. And that’s if he wins! If the odds hold and Roman loses his title on Sunday, he’ll spiral down to a mere 7.95%.
It's very similar to the argument against raising the federal minimum wage. If everyone has their wages increase, then no one gains any wealth, in a relative sense.
Likewise, if vince McMahon hands out free Warnings points to the lions share of his roster, then there's no way for Roman Reigns to get ahead.
Diabolical!
