WWE SmackDown results, live blog (Jan. 21, 2016): Royal Rumble go home show

WWE SmackDown comes waltzing back into our lives tonight (Jan. 21, 2016) from Dayton, Ohio with a taped show on the USA Network featuring all the latest build to the upcoming Royal Rumble pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for this Sunday night in Orlando, Florida.

Because SmackDown is a taped show, you can simply go read the spoilers to know everything that happens (find them by clicking here). We will provide results below.

You can use this space to discuss all the events as they occur, however, and it's probably going to enhance your viewing experience. In fact, I know it is because we're a lot of fun around here.

Enjoy the show!

SMACKDOWN RESULTS

Chris here. Let's take this thing home...

_____________________________________________

Chris Jericho comes out to start this show.

Jericho proclaims this to be "Thursday Night Jericho" before reminding us that Sunday's Royal Rumble match is the most important since the winner walks away as WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Jericho then tells his monkeys to recap the big Highlight Reel from Raw.

After the recap, Jericho reminds us that he is the savior of the WWE, and he will win the Rumble this Sunday.

The New Day now decide to grace us with their presence.

Big E laugh at Jericho's title as "savior of the WWE" and shame Christoff a big before reaming him for murdering Francesca. Xavier Woods wants to make a documentary entitled "Making a Brass Murderer."

And to top it off. Jericho has no remorse whatsoever...cold-blooded bastard.

There is good news, however. Even the worst criminals can be reformed. The New Day then requests a moment of silence for Francesca, but Jericho does not oblige. Instead, he disses the unicorn horns and "quotes" Confucius. Jericho then turns around to say that The New Day can be unicorns....as long as they get unicorn names.

Jericho goes through a few names.......before making a dreaded "rooty tooty booty" reference.

After some New Day rage, Jericho introduces New Day's opponents for this evening: The Usos and Dolph Ziggler, who is sporting pink Uso paint...lol

The New Day vs Dolph Ziggler and The Usos

This was a decent match that we've seen before. The Usos and Ziggler got the win after Xavier Woods ate a triple superkick.

Becky Lynch vs Alicia Fox

Charlotte and Ric Flair are on commentary for this one.

This was a quick and decent little match that featured a questionable Northern Lights suplex on the outside for whatever reason. Despite this, Becky gets the win with the Disarmer.

It's MizTV time. The Miz introduces the segment by talking about the upcoming last man standing match between Kevin Owens and Dean Ambrose.....until the obligatory interruption by the "Mayor of Loopyland", Dean Ambrose.

Ambrose takes control and starts talking about the last man standing match as Miz tries to shut him up. Miz eventually does the "when my hand goes up" schtick, and this earns a "when my fist hits your face" response from Ambrose. Miz then asks the crowd if they think that Ambrose can do MizTV better than Miz. A piped-in cheer follows.

Correction....it's now time for DeanTV as Miz gives up and sits in the corner.

Ambrose goes back to his discussion about a last man standing match being comparable to an amusement park. He goes over the various "rides" in this match that Ambrose will use to dismantle Owens. Ambrose then makes a reference to the "Kevin Owens as a Bear" Twitter account as he continues to talk about the ways he is going to murder Owens.

Basically, Ambrose has an insatiable bloodlust, and he is intent on absolutely murdeathkilling Owens on Sunday.

Owens comes strolling on out now, and he doesn't seem too impressed.

Owens says that Ambrose's amusement park analogy doesn't amuse him. Instead, Owens is more of a zoo enthusiast. Regardless, the Intercontinental Championship is the property of Kevin Owens, and Owens wants his title back. He says that Ambrose's insanity will be his downfall when Owens knocks him unconscious and wins the IC Title.

Ambrose is ready for a fight on DeanTV and challenges Owens. A butthurt Miz then attacks Ambrose from behind, eventually calling Owens to the ring after dismantling Ambrose.

Owens enters the ring and pop-up powerbombs Miz because Miz. Owens then picks up Ambrose, tells him that Sunday will be the Kevin Owens Show, and goes to powerbomb Ambrose. Ambrose fights out of the attempt and makes Owens retreat. Ambrose then gives Dirty Deeds to Miz and follows by demonstrating his ability to count to ten.

Ryback vs Bray Wyatt

This one happened. Wyatt got the win with Sister Abigail after the rest of The Wyatt Family interfered and distracted the referee as Braun Strowman threw Ryback into the ring stairs.

Titus O'Neil vs Stardust

This happened. Titus won with Clash of the Titus.

Renee Young interviews Kalisto about his upcoming rematch with Alberto Del Rio. Kalisto talks about Del Rio's accomplishments and Del Rio is the Goliath over Kalisto's David. However, Kalisto has beat Del Rio twice before, and that he will do it again on Sunday.

Del Rio barges in and says that Kalisto is nothing. The rest of the League of Nations comes in and attacks Kalisto, with Sheamus eventually laying out Kalisto with a Brogue Kick.

Roman Reigns vs The League of Nations

Before the match, Reigns talks about the Royal Rumble and how he was oh-so shocked that he was picked as the first entrant to the Rumble. Reigns vows that he's walking out of the Rumble as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion because he believes in the big fight. As for tonight, he's ready to destroy the League of Nations.

Well, Roman tried to put up a fight, but of course THAT DAMN NUMBERS GAME had to catch up to him. As Reigns was getting ready to put everyone away, all of the LoN members attacked, causing the match to be thrown out.

Roman Reigns def The League of Nations by DQ

After the DQ, The League of Nations kept on attacking Reigns until The Usos made a save, allowing Reigns to hit a spear on Sheamus.

This is all for naught as The Wyatt Family attacks Reigns and lays him out.
