The wrestler who calls himself "The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived" has been linked to WWE in the past. But if a new report from PWInsider is correct, Austin Aries will finally join the company in 2016.
Aries was allegedly in Pittsburgh this week, where WWE medical chief Dr. Joseph Maroon is located and most of the company's medical examinations are performed. Putting that together with the reports of A-Double hanging out at a NXT taping late last year, the website is saying that a deal to finally join Vince McMahon's company is imminent.
In addition to the November 2015 NXT whispers, Aries also auditioned for the 2011 reboot of Tough Enough, but wasn't selected as a competitor on the reality competiton. There were also rumors that a deal was a possibility when his last long-term TNA deal expired back in June.
If it comes together this time - and we have nothing like confirmation that it will - Aries will be joining the company as they re-stock on talent amidst lagging ratings and a rash of injuries.
Will he be able to make a splash amidst AJ Styles and Bullet Club, or Shinsuke Nakamura?
