Dean Ambrose kicked off Thursday's episode of SmackDown by challenging Kevin Owens to a Last Man Standing match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view (PPV) on Jan. 24 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla. I have no idea why, considering he's the Intercontinental champion and you would think it would be the other way around.
Owens answered the call by saying "it doesn't matter what type of match it is, you are not walking out of there the Intercontinental champion; in fact, you're not walking out of their period."
So the match is on.
That makes two matches official for the Royal Rumble event:
- Royal Rumble (WWE world heavyweight championship on the line)
- Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens (Last Man Standing Intercontinental championship)
