The New Day to defend tag titles against The Dudley Boyz on live WWE Network Madison Square Garden show

WWE.com

WWE Network's last broadcast of what had originally been booked as a house show, July 4's Beast in the East, was built around a Brock Lesnar match. The Beast Incarnate was the hook to bring the masses, but the marketing of it also leaned on a NXT title match between Kevin Owens and Finn Bálor.

While the leaked card for the next live special, from Madison Square Garden on October 3, has done more with Lesnar - pitting him against a rival with whom he has a long history in Big Show, and making it the kickoff of his "Go To Hell Tour" that will culminate in Los Angeles with a Hell in a Cell match against Undertaker - it was lacking another match with ongoing storyline implications.

Last night on Raw, Michael Cole announced that the tag titles would be defended in Manhattan, putting them in the spot where Owens/Bálor was in Tokyo. It's a good call, too, with current champs The New Day extremely over with the same internet crowd that watches NXT, and a potential big, homecoming moment if New York natives The Dudley Boyz capture their tenth WWE tag team championship in the Garden.

Excited for another round of Big E, Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods vs. Bubba Ray & D-Von? Will you be punching up the Network two Saturdays from now?
