Oh boy.
The boys at the Wrestling Observer Radio were recently discussing the fact that Kane will be making his return to WWE television at any time. Talk immediately turned to the idea that it's at least possible that return could be to cost Brock Lesnar his match with Undertaker at the SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Sun., Aug. 23, 2015, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
To be clear, no one is reporting that that's what is going to happen. For now, it's speculation at worst and an educated guess at best.
The problem? It just makes too much sense to ignore.
Consider what we know:
- In kayfabe, Kane was originally taken out of action by Lesnar
- As noted, he's expected back at any time
- Paul Heyman continually made references to the link between Kane and Undertaker in the time leading up to both Brock taking Kane out and Undertaker returning to cost Lesnar his title match at Battleground
- Undertaker has shown in the story that he's desperate to get revenge on Brock, including two nut shots to cement his status as the heel
It makes a lot of sense for the story that Undertaker's desperation would lead to his recruiting his brother to help him defeat "The Beast" who has plagued him, the same "Beast" who Kane has a beef with. That would also help set up another meeting between Undertaker and Lesnar at WrestleMania 32 next year while giving Brock something to do in the meantime.
That said, and as much as it may work for the story, the idea of Kane interfering in this match in Brooklyn sounds like exactly the kind of angle that will die a very painful death in front of that crowd.
Your thoughts on the possibility?
