Stone Cold says no match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32

WWE.com

Last week's Stone Cold Podcast on WWE Network was a great conversation between Paul Heyman and Steve Austin, but it lacked the fireworks of Stone Cold's previous chats with Vince McMahon and Triple H.

One thing that did get folks buzzing was a few minutes at the end of the show where Austin slipped into character and cut a promo about how, if Heyman wanted to set it up, he would kick Brock Lesnar's ass at WrestleMania 32 in Arlington, Texas.

Now, in adding a preface to a replay of their talk on the "Family Friendly" edition of his podcast this week, the Texas Rattlesnake wants to set the record straight. There are no plans of a match, he just got carried away talking to his mentor (who he still refers to by his character name Paul E Dangerously):

Paul E kind of flipped the script on me, wanted to ask a few questions. I didn't know what Paul E was gonna ask, and he started talking about Brock Lesnar and WrestleMania 32 in Dallas. Of course, boy, I bit hook, line and sinker - Stone Cold mode, starting cutting a half-ass promo. I wasn't trying to, ended up talking about me whipping Brock's ass. Because as Stone Cold Steve Austin, that's the only way I could see that match going down. Here's the thing. What I did was kind of raised the hopes of people, and halfway kind of half-ass booked myself into a match - which was not my intention. So, at WrestleMania 32, I don't believe you're gonna be seeing Brock Lesnar-Stone Cold Steve Austin in the same ring, so it wasn't my intention to get into booking territory or spin a match or sell a match, so I just wanted to make that clear to everybody.

And before you get too excited about the "in the same ring" comment and interpret that as meaning Austin will be wrestling someone at AT&T Stadium next Spring, he (mostly) shuts that down, too, and hints that he still has major announcements to come, even after news dropped of the WWE Network show being a regular gig:

Brock Lesnar will continue down the road that he's going down, I'm gonna continue going down the road I'm going on, which is doing podcasts, hosting the Broken Skull Challenge...I've got some other things that are coming up that I can't talk about right now that are real exciting for me, I might be able to announce those in the future, they're coming right up.

So there you have it. Not that anything can be 100% definitive in pro wrestling, but this does seem like an attempt to clear up any misconceptions so fans don't end up disappointed.
