In an interview with Portsmouth.co.uk, WWE Hall of Famer and pro wrestling legend Ric Flair is once again talking about getting back in the ring and wrestling another match. WWE, of course, doesn't want anything to do with promoting him in a match after Shawn Michaels was booked to retire him at WrestleMania 24.
Flair, in the most Ric Flair answer imaginable, believes he knows why WWE doesn't want him wrestling for the promotion again:
"I didn't want to stop competing at all, but I think in terms of the direction the business was heading I saw it as a good time for me to step away from the ring. I've been blessed to have such a varied and successful career and I couldn't have asked for a better final match than the one against Shawn. I couldn't have asked to go out in a better way, to a better guy. He really is a true friend and if I had to lose to anyone I am glad it was him. I would love to get back in the ring, but they are scared I would steal the show every week. I'm just too god damn good. I can still go in the ring and take a suplex or two if I need to."
WWE has been hesitant to give Hulk Hogan one last match at his age, 61, and with the wear and tear on his body. Flair is five years older. Could he work a match, take a suplex or two, and be just fine? Probably. Should he?
Probably not.
Would he steal the show if he did?
I'll let you answer that one.
