The WWE rumour mill has gone completely overboard with ridiculous speculation ever since Brock Lesnar failed to appear on this week's Monday Night Raw, despite reportedly being scheduled to be a part of the show. The most credible sources suggest that Brock Lesnar "stormed off in a huff" and walked out over a business dispute with WWE, but the dearth of hard information on this developing story allowed a ridiculous lie to gain traction overnight.
An anonymous Wreddit user called TheMaskedLucha yesterday posted a very detailed explanation of what was going on with Lesnar, which he had allegedly got from a reliable source.
The amazing theory pushed was that Roman Reigns had failed the WWE's drug testing policy, but Vince McMahon refused to suspend "his boy" and that Brock Lesnar was beyond infuriated with the decision, fearing that he could become "guilty by association" if he faced someone at WrestleMania 31 who had failed a drugs test. Upon hearing the news Lesnar demanded that Reigns be replaced in the WrestleMania main event with John Cena or Daniel Bryan, but when McMahon stubbornly refused to change his plans, he walked out.
The post has been since deleted from the site, but a screen capture of the original post can be seen here.
It was a palpably false rumour, but because it created such a storm of controversy online, Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com reached out to WWE to respond to the allegations. WWE's response was blunt and to the point:
"That story is absolutely, 100% untrue."
So, no, Brock Lesnar didn't walk out over Roman Reigns failing a drug test and Vince McMahon refusing to punish him for it, but we're still no closer to finding out why he did.
