There have been rumors for months that WWE would be making some big changes to SmackDown in the year 2016, or at least a noticeable tweak of the format and presentation of the show, once it moves to the USA Network on Jan. 7. That may or may not include regular appearances from the big stars on the roster who normally only work Monday Night Raw.
Like John Cena.
We'll see if it lasts, but it was announced at tonight's SmackDown taping in Washington D.C. that Cena will, in fact, appear on next week's show in Laredo, Texas. No specifics were offered on just what his role will be, just that he will be in the building.
Next week also marks the debut of new SmackDown lead announcer Mauro Ranallo. It's shaping up to be a big show, no different than Raw the night before it.
Hey, maybe WWE will turn a corner in 2016.
