WWE Royal Rumble 2016 match card, rumors

WWE.com

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Royal Rumble event set to take place on Sun., Jan. 24, 2016, at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, the company's annual beginning of the year showcase featuring its most popular gimmick match. It will crown the next number one contender to the WWE world heavyweight championship.

We're still four weeks away from the gates opening in the Sunshine State and only one match is set for the card.

The 30-man over the top rope battle royal is back for another year. WWE has yet to announce any participants, though the word is that will come as early as tomorrow night on Raw from Brooklyn.

As far as rumors for other matches on this show, there is a ton of speculation surrounding Roman Reigns, with the general consensus being that either he works another match with Sheamus or they go straight to the Triple H match they've been building to.

Elsewhere, there's very little clear direction. Dean Ambrose has defeated Kevin Owens in consecutive matches over the Intercontinental championship, while The New Day have held off all challengers for the tag team titles. Charlotte and Becky Lynch are working toward a break up but that may not happen anytime soon. The United States championship is still with Alberto Del Rio, and John Cena returns tomorrow to deal with that.

This coming week of television should tell us what we have to look forward to for the next major WWE PPV.

Stay tuned!
