And Still Your WWE Tag Team Champions . . . .

The World Famous two-time WWE Tag Team Champions, the New Day, started the show, set to defend their titles against the Lucha Dragons.  Before the match, the New Day stated that they deserved to win the Slammy for the Tag Team of the Year over any team in history, but they are not upset because they would wrap up those Lucha Booties and make sure their titles stay home for the holidays.  New Day then promoted their upcoming Christmas album with such hits as "The Little Trombone Boy" and "We Wish You a Booty Christmas and a Happy New Day!".  Well, I know what my last minute Christmas shopping will include.

The Lucha Dragons made their entrance, with Kalisto showing off his Slammy Award, and the match got under way. Kofi Kingston and Sin Cara started the match.  The two had a back and forth exchange until Sin Cara got Kingston into his team's corner.  He tagged in Kalisto and worked together get a near fall on Kofi.  Big E was tagged into the match and the luchadors used their quickness to get the better of the big man.  Lucha Dragons kept control once Kofi got back into the match, using quick tags and double team moves to keep control.

Xavier Woods provided a distraction outside the ring with Sin Cara and allowed New Day to get the advantage.  Big E looked to follow up on this advantage but missed on a splash.  Kalisto got the tag and came into and was cleaning house until Woods pulled him out of the ring behind the referee's back.  Big E drove Kalisto back first into the barricade and the New Day took over with the unicorn stomp in the corner while Woods taunted his opponent with the trombone. Kalisto desperately reached for a tag but Kofi cut him off, keeping him in the New Day's corner.  Finally, Kalisto got a tag after Big E missed with a suplex.

The match began to break down and the Dragons took Kingston and Big E out with suicide dives outside of the ring.  Kalisto got a pin on Big E but Woods distracted the referee.  There was a lot of confusion going on, including another Woods interference.  Big E hit the Big Ending on Sin Cara and got the pin fall, retaining the titles for New Day.  Afterwards, the champs celebrated in the ring as only they can.

Is Becky Lynch Sting?

The WWE Diva's Champion, Charlotte, took on Brie Bella with Becky Lynch on commentary.  Charlotte dominated the match in the early going as commentary interrogated Lynch about Charlotte's new attitude as of late.  Lynch made it clear that she wants to perform on her own merits and is not interested in help. It was difficult for her to answer whether it is more important to win matches or have a friendship with Charlotte.  Brie, who is working as a face in this match, had the advantage for a while until Charlotte hit her with a spear.

While both women were down, Team BAD came down to the ring dressed in costumes for the holidays, and doused eggnog on Lynch.  When Lynch defended herself, Team BAD attacked her.  Charlotte had the chance to go help Becky but decided to win the match and not help Lynch at all.  She only went to Lynch's side after winning the match and celebrating and, by that time, Team BAD had already left. So winning is more important to Charlotte, that is obvious.  She pretty much laughed in Becky's face afterwards.

And Still Your WWE Intercontinental Champion . . .

The main event of the evening was a Triple Threat match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.  The champion, Dean Ambrose, squared off against Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler.  The match started off hot and all three men ended up on the outside pretty quickly.  KO took control after doing a senton on the outside to both Ziggler and Ambrose.  The action got back in the ring for a moment then all three ended up right back on the outside.  The three brawled up to the top of the ramp and KO tossed Ziggler into the Christmas set up.  He then used some of the harder decorations on Ambrose.

KO went to powerbomb Ziggler on the floor but ate a superkick from Ziggler and was sent flying off the stage into more trees.  Ziggler and Ambrose fought back to the ring where Ambrose took control and got a near fall.  KO eventually rejoined the action and all three men hit strikes on each other and ended up all down in the ring.  There were a lot of high spots and near falls, with Ambrose taking the brunt of the punishment.  At one point Ziggler got a sleeper hold on KO and he got out it by doing a senton onto Ambrose while Ziggler was on his back.

KO sent Zigger into the ring post, launching him out of the ring.  He then pretty much suplexed Ambrose on his neck but only got a near fall.  The referee wanted to check on Ambrose, who insisted he was okay.  KO went outside the ring and drove Ziggler into the barricade before continuing his assault on Ambrose, yelling, "It's MY title!"

Ambrose fought back with punches and stopped a pop up powerbomb attempt. When he went for the Dirty Deeds, Ziggler came up behind Ambrose and delivered a Zig Zag at the same time.  Ziggler went for the superkick but Ambrose ducked it so Ziggler hit one on KO, which sent him out of the ring.  Ambrose quickly hit Dirty Deeds on Ziggler for the pin fall victory.

This was a really good match.

All The Rest

  • Backstage segment: Santino was seen decorating a Christmas tree.  After the walked away, Stardust stole the star on top of the tree.
  • Dean Ambrose interview: The IC champ will throw everything he has at Zigger and KO to retain the title. #FACT
  • Eight Man Tag Team Match: The Wyatts defeated Ryback, Kane, and the Dudley Boyz in a decent match.  Kane/Strowman face off could be a sign of things to come.
  • WWE Christmas party: Summer Rae and Tyler Breeze are amazing.  The Cosmic Wasteland destroyed the decorations.  Neville really is an elf.  Titus O'Neil and Neville have to fight the Ascension in order not have Christmas canceled, even though KO already did that yesterday.
  • League of Nations versus The Usos: The League of Nations won thanks to DAT NUMBERS GAME.  After the match, Roman Reigns came in and saved his cousins from getting their asses kicked.
  • Titus O'Neil and Neville versus the Ascension: Titus and Neville won. Christmas is saved but not really because KO already canceled it.
  • Dolph Ziggler interview: Same old Van Ziggler, different day.
  • KO interview: SD is now the Kevin Owens show.  Why?  Because he said so and that is enough for me.

There is not much to say.  This was a filler show filled with tag matches and literally no story progression whatsoever outside of the Becky/Charlotte story.  All the tag matches were just decent but the main event was great and more than made up for it.  All in all, an average show.

Rating: C +
