In the end, it was a long WWE title run that made the difference for Slammy voters.
Seth Rollins won the Slammy for Superstar of the Year, and he returned in his best all black Shield suit - and on crutches from the knee surgery he's still rehabbing from - to a big babyface reaction to accept the award.
Minneapolis may have wanted to cheer The Architect, but he was still largely in heel promo mode. He spoke of "redesigning" Seth Rollins for his return, and vowed to take back the championship he never lost. Though he promised to beat whoever holds the belt when he gets back, he specifically name dropped current champ Roman Reigns...perhaps foreshadowing things to come, and explaining why WWE wants him to keep fans against him.
It's too early to tell, as we're still looking at another 4 - 6 months minimum without Rollins.
But as reward for a 2015 full of accomplishments, the man who called himself the Future is the second straight member of The Shield to win Superstar of the Year.
Agree with his selection, Cagesiders? Excited to have him back? Have a preference on alignment?
