And the Cageside Seats Slammy goes to...

WWE.com

Over the last four days, a bunch of us on the masthead here at Cageside Seats (home of the best dang pro wrestling community on the interwebs, natch) have posted our WWE Slammy award ballots for all to see and discuss.

Now, the eight of us are just a drop in the sea that is the WWE Universe. But if we were the full voting pool - or at least an accurate representation of it - who would be holding golden trophies today?

Superstar of the Year

John Cena

Also receiving votes: Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins (2)

The Face Who Runs the Place impressed by (sort of) taking a backseat and revitalizing the United States championship by turning himself into a workrate machine. It was far from a landslide, but he earned the support of half our voters. If we're any barometer, Cena will collect his fourth Superstar of the Year award tonight - whether he's in Minnesota to do so or not.

Diva of the Year

Nikki Bella

Also receiving votes: Sasha Banks (2), Paige

This one incited a bit of a Twitter war between the General and his followers over whether or not NXT counts in Slammy awards voting. Personally, I decided I didn't care and voted my conscience (cause a girl's gonna push it all out the way), but it's an interesting discussion seeing as how WWE doesn't publish rules and they used highlights of her matches from "Developmental" as a way to push her on Raw. Regardless, the woman who set the record for longest Divas title reign won our straw poll, and will likely win tonight.

Breakout Star of the Year

Kevin Owens

Our only unanimous selection. Not that he wants our stupid votes anyway.

Tag Team of the Year

The New Day

Also receiving votes: Tyson Kidd & Cesaro

Almost unanimous, if not for one unapologetic Swiss Superman mark...

Match of the Year

John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins (Royal Rumble)

Also receiving votes: John Cena vs. Kevin Owens (Elimination Chamber), Roman Reigns vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Kevin Owens vs. Alberto Del Rio (Raw), Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker (Hell in a Cell)

Mostly, we complained about the five choices put on the ballot. But the only match that received more than one tally was the Rumble Triple Threat, so that was a clear winner.

Rivalry of the Year

The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar

Also receiving votes: Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt

It was clearly the one WWE spent the most promotional energy on, and we mostly bought the hype - except for one passionate Roman fan.

WWE Network Show of the Year

Table for 3

Also receiving votes: Breaking Ground, Stone Cold Podcast (2)

Because who doesn't like food and road stories?

Double-Cross of the Year

Jon Stewart attacks John Cena

Also receiving votes: Damien Mizdow eliminates The Miz (2), Paige attacks Charlotte and Becky Lynch (2)

Another category that divided our sample electorate, but the one that happened on the biggest stage garnered the most support.

Surprise Return of the Year

The Dudley Boyz return to confront The New Day

Also receiving votes: Del Rio answers Cena's US open challenge (3), Sting ambushes Rollins and Triple H

Darn near our only tie, so this is definitely one to watch whenever it gets announced today.

Hashtag of the Year

#SuplexCity

Also receiving votes: #GiveDivasAChance (2), #SaveTheTables, #AxelMania, #RKOOUTTANOWHERE

You get a vote! And you get vote! No strong consensus here, although we're pretty sure Brock's ad lib will win elsewhere.

Celebrity Moment of the Year

Kevin Owens powerbombs Machine Gun Kelly off the stage

Also receiving votes: Stephen Amell dives onto Stardust (3), Jon Stewart gets on Cena's bad side

Some folks just like to see pop rappers get thrown from heights.

"Tell Me You Didn't Just Say That" Moment of the Year

Lesnar introduces "Suplex City" to the world

Also receiving votes: Paige spoils Charlotte's Divas title celebration

This one's going home with The Beast and his advocate. B****.

Best John Cena US open challenge

Cena vs. Cesaro

Also receiving votes: Cena vs. Zayn (3)

Nearly every voter expressed difficulty with their decision, so this could go either way.

LOL Moment of the Year

R-Truth thinks he's in the Money in the Bank ladder match

Also receiving votes: Edge and Christian battle New Day (2)

How quickly we forget the glory of a kazoo vs. trombone battle. Steve Harvey's Miss Universe botch pretty much seals the deal for how this one will be discussed on the main roster, methinks.

"This is Awesome" Moment of the Year

The Shield give Randy Orton a triple powerbomb

Also receiving votes: Brock Lesnar destroys J&J Security's car, The Rock and Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 31 (3)

Obligatory "the pop when Dean, Roman & Seth reunite is going to be deafening".

"OMG!" Shocking Moment of the Year

Seth Rollins cashes in Money in the Bank contract at WrestleMania 31

Also receiving votes: Brock Lesnar destroys everyone

Would have been a sweep if I hadn't remembered Michael Cole's shoe.

Extreme Moment of the Year

Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker have a pull apart brawl

Also receiving votes: Roman Reigns snaps, destroys everyone at TLC (3)

Recency bias, and WWE's desire to sell the Reigns story, may sway this one, but the majority of staffers remember the Taker/Lesnar brawl EXTREMEly well.

How will cSs do as an indicator of how the Universe at large will vote? We'll find out tonight. In the meantime, let us know if we line up with you thinking. And check out individual ballots from the team...
