My WWE Slammy Awards 2015 ballot

Voting for this year's Slammy Awards is now open and winners will be announced next Monday night on a special edition of Raw in Minneapolis.  Here is the ballot of the Siren of SmackDown (Thanks to Sean for the moniker).

Superstar of the Year

All Superstars eligible

Brock Lesnar

Yes, I know, he is a part timer.  But, honestly, Brock Lesnar is the Superstar in the WWE I have wanted to see the most and want to know what he was doing next this year.  First, he won a spectacular Triple Threat match against John Cena and Seth Rollins at the Royal Rumble. Next up was my personal match of the year (SPOILER ALERT) at WrestleMania 31 against Roman Reigns, where he was in Squash Lesnar form and it was glorious.  "SUPLEX CITY, BITCH!" has become iconic and he was just talking some trash to this nobody who dared to win the Rumble match and challenge him for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Say what you will about everything the WWE did with Brock after WM 31, HE still delivered every time he was on screen.  I personally hated his feud with the Undertaker but even I can admit the two had some really good matches and proved that their dud at WM 30 was a fluke.  In the coming year, he is the one person I am most excited to see what happens in his story.  When Lesnar is not there, everyone should be asked, "Where's Brock?"

Diva of the Year

Nikki Bella
Naomi
Paige
Sasha Banks
Charlotte

I know, right?  I am totally shocked that I am voting for Nikki Bella, too!  But here am I and here's why: If this applies only to WWE main roster, I HAVE to go with Nikki Bella.  From being a star on Total Divas, to becoming the longest reigning WWE Diva's Champion, Nikki has faced some harsh criticism for "not being a wrestler" while putting on some of the best women's matches on the main roster.  Her BELLAHAMMER is a move fans wait in anticipation to see.  How many ladies can say the same?  Sure, the reign was not perfect but we are talking about MAIN ROSTER WWE here, not NXT, otherwise why would some of these ladies even be on the list?  So far, Sasha Banks has done nothing to deserve this award on the main roster, otherwise she would get my vote.  But I cannot just ignore the hard work Nikki Bella has done to turn into a great (yeah, I said great) wrestler and a delusional heel who thinks she's the good guy.

Get better and come back soon, Nikkisawa!

Breakout Star of the Year

Kevin Owens
Neville
Charlotte
Tyler Breeze
Braun Strowman

No explanation needed.

Tag Team of the Year

The New Day
The Usos
The Prime Time Players
Tyson Kidd & Cesaro
The Lucha Dragons

I liked Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E on their own and enjoyed seeing them.  I love them together.  I enjoy their brand of humor (although Big E can sometimes so a wee bit too far on social media) and I actually enjoy watching their matches when their opponents aren't the Dudley Boyz.  They created a new chant cadence, for crying out loud!  They have people wearing glowing phallus on their heads, for goodness sakes!  They are the two time World Famous WWE Tag Team Champions so FEEL THE POWER!

Match of the Year

John Cena vs Brock Lesnar vs Seth Rollins (Royal Rumble)
Sting vs HHH (WrestleMania 31)
John Cena vs Kevin Owens (Elimination Chamber)
Roman Reigns vs Dolph Ziggler vs Kevin Owens vs Alberto Del Rio (RAW)
Brock Lesnar vs Undertaker (Hell in a Cell)

Since the match I wanted was not nominated (Lesnar vs Reigns at WM 31), I am going with the match I was the most emotionally invested in and the one where I cared about the outcome the most. That goes to the Fatal Fourway, which kinda lead to my pipebomb on a certain edition of Cageside Speaks.  Plus, it's the only match without Cena and part timers.

Rivalry of the Year

Roman Reigns vs Bray Wyatt
The Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar
John Cena vs Rusev
Team Bella vs Team BAD vs Team PCB
Randy Orton vs Seth Rollins

A mark through and through, I enjoyed Reigns versus Wyatt so very much, especially since most of the good stuff happened on SmackDown, where Wyatt cut his best promo of the year, equating Dean Ambrose to a follower and Reigns to his imperial King.  Reigns showed frustration and sold Wyatt as, shocker, an actual threat.  He did not defeat Wyatt easily, as most have done.  And when it did look like Reigns and Ambrose together would be able to survive the Wyatts, Braun Strowman was introduced and I know Cageside Seats would be a little less entertaining without all the different mashups of his name.  And I actually preferred the Reigns/Wyatt HIAC match over the Lesnar/Taker one.

WWE Network Show of the Year

Breaking Ground
Table for Three
Stone Cold Podcast
WWE 24
Swerved

It is nice to see the WWE Superstars just sitting down and talking with one another about the wrestling business.  My favorite was the one with Madusa, Ivory, and Molly Holly but the one with Roddy Piper, Mr. Wonderful, and Mean Gene was great as well. I really hope of all the Network shows that this one continues for a long time.  We could see some really interesting groupings.

Double Cross of the Year

Jon Stewart attacks John Cena
Randy Orton turns on the Authority
Paige attacks Charlotte and Becky Lynch
Stardust betrays Goldust
Damien Mizdow eliminates the Miz

I love Paige's "I don't give a bleep" attitude and, of a lot of the women, her character seems like one of the most authentic.  How anyone did not see it coming would be a shock and that is not why I voted for it.  It was because EVERYONE SAW IT COMING EXCEPT CHARLOTTE AND BECKY.  It's Paige, ladies, you know, the one who always screams, "This is MY house!"  I mean, sure, she likes the girls enough to be friends but she wants to be the top woman in the promotion and you really can't get that why by making friends.  She did not ask for P or C but they were given to her as help.  When the help got of out hand and started to outshine her, she had to do something to stand out, right?  Plus, even if nothing came of it, I loved her "pipebomb" on the Diva's Division after Night of Champions. Those things needed to be said.

Surprise Return of the Year

Jericho teams up with Ambrose and Reigns
The Dudley Boyz return to confront New Day
Sting ambushes Rollins and Triple H
Del Rio answers Cena's US Open Challenge
Demon Kane prevents Sheamus' Money in the Bank cash in

By God, the pop the Dudleys got in Brooklyn when they came out to confront the New Day was amazing.  I do believe this was also when Xavier Woods debuted the trombone.  That entire segment was just fun all around.  Definitely the best return for me.

Hashtag of the Year

#GiveDivasAChance
#SaveTheTables
#AxelMania
#RKOOUTOFNOWHERE
#SuplexCity

This one wins because it's still relevant today, right now, at this very moment.

Celebrity Moment of the Year

Stephen Amell dives onto Stardust
The cast of Entourage introduces Zack Ryder
Kevin Owens powerbombs Machine Gun Kelly off the stage
Jon Stewart gets on Cena's bad side
Wayne Rooney slaps King Barrett

This one gets it because . . . Kevin Owens powerbombed Machine Gun Kelly off the stage.

"Tell Me You Didn't Just Say That" Moment of the Year

Ambrose calls Rollins "Justin Bieber"
Rollins calls Johnny Manziel "Johnny Idiot Face"
Lesnar introduces "Suplex City" to the world
Rollins says Kane was just "there" at WrestleMania
Paige spoils Charlotte's Divas title celebration

Same reason I voted for the Double Cross of the Year: Paige is amazing in this role for me.  How does she even HAVE friends?

Best John Cena US open challenge

Cena vs. Cesaro
Cena vs. Ziggler
Cena vs. Zayn
Cena vs. Ambrose
Cena vs. Neville

Cesaro is amazing in the ring.  The only match on this list that comes close to what Cesaro did with Cena would be Neville and that still is not close enough for me to consider it.  I did think for a few seconds that maybe, just maybe, Cesaro was going to win it.

LOL Moment of the Year

Edge and Christian battle New Day
The Bushwhackers Hall of Fame speech
The Miz and Damien Mizdow commercial
The Authority dance with The New Day
R-Truth thinks he's in the Money in the Bank ladder match

All hail, King What's Up!  Ron Killings is having a blast in this role and I have so much fun watching him.  All year, from his antics in the IC battle leading to WM to his current thing of showing up where he isn't supposed to be,  he has just been fantastic to me.  That's what wrestling's all about, having some fun, and R-Truth is all about that.

"This is Awesome" Moment of the Year

Brock Lesnar destroys J&J Security's car
Randy Orton's RKO to Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 31
Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks are called up to the main roster
The Shield give Randy Orton a triple powerbomb
The Rock and Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 31

Shield Maiden for life!  I felt it coming.  When Orton was down on the floor and those three looked at each other.  I knew.  They knew.  The crowd knew.  And for a few glorious moments, I had MY Shield back.  And it was good.

"OMG!" Shocking Moment of the Year

Seth Rollins cashes in Money in the Bank contract at WrestleMania 31
Brock Lesnar destroys everyone
Kalisto hits Salida Del Sol off a ladder through another ladder
Undertaker is abducted by The Wyatt Family
Sheamus cashes in Money in the Bank contract at Survivor Series

Tell me anyone expected Seth Rollins' music to hit during the main event of WM31, for him to run out to cash in mid-match, and then for him to walk out of that show with the title.  My mouth was open for the entire thing.  I still could not believe it after it happened, kinda like what I picked for the next category . . . .

Extreme Moment of the Year

Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker have a pull apart brawl
Dean Ambrose is powerbombed through a ladder at WrestleMania 31 by Luke Harper
Seth Rollins breaks John Cena's nose
Roman Reigns snaps, destroys everyone at TLC
Neville hits a splash off a ladder onto a group of stars

All year, I had been waiting on Roman Reigns to snap and get lose his sh*t.  All freaking year.  On someone.  Anyone.  On the fans for booing him.  On Heyman for talking trash about his family.  On Seth Rollins for being Seth Rollins.  On Bray Wyatt for being obsessed with him.  But, nope.  Sure, he'd get plenty mad but, in the end, he was still the same.  But, finally, on December 13, 2015, I got my wish.  Roman Reigns snapped.  And it was GLORIOUS.  And Boston thanked him for it.  So do I.

That's my ballot folks!  Hope you enjoyed my take on things.
