WWE has been dealing with historically low viewership for Monday Night Raw for a number of weeks, what with stiff competition from Monday Night Football and a fan base fed up with low quality television. That said, the company seemed to turn it around with a spectacular TLC pay-per-view (PPV) on Sunday night that closed with a super hot angle -- Roman Reigns destroying everyone, including Triple H -- to build to a highly anticipated follow up the next night on Raw.
It worked.
Viewers were up big this week, shooting all the way up to 3.88 million viewers. Last week's show drew just 3.05 million viewers.
The hourly breakdown shows just how invested fans were:
Hour one: 4.04 million
Hour two: 3.78 million
Hour three: 3.82 million
Fans were given a reason to come back after that second hour, which started with Vince McMahon making his return, with the promise of a Reigns vs. Sheamus title match in the main event. Once they got there, the promotion delivered the goods with a solid match and a signature WWE world heavyweight title win for its new top star.
This was a big success all around.
