Update: The reason he was fired.
From the WWE website a short time ago:
WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar Brad Maddox as of Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015. WWE wishes Maddox the best in all of his future endeavors.
Maddox started in Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2008, went to Florida Championship Wrestling in 2010, and was promoted to the main WWE roster in 2012. He worked as a referee for a time, most notably screwing over Ryback in his Hell in a Cell match with CM Punk as a way to make it in the business because WWE had continually ignored him. And while he was pushed as General Manager of Raw at one point, that's more or less exactly what WWE has done over the past couple years.
Most recently, he was working a tag team on house shows with Adam Rose. His last television appearance for WWE was dressing up as a turkey to take a Tombstone from Undertaker on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
