More on Randy Savage's WWE Hall of Fame induction: WWE Network story, who his inductor will be, statement from Lanny Poffo

WWE.com

Our own Keith Harris brought you word earlier today that WWE will announce Randy "Macho Man" Savage as the first member of the Hall of Fame Class of 2015 on WWE Raw tonight (January 12, 2015).  Out of courtesy, Keith labeled his story as a spoiler, but WWE has been doing nothing but spoiling their own story since.

Much like the WWE.com article in our initial post, The WWE Network is acting like a separate news gathering organization in reporting Savage's "expected" enshrinement.  But that doesn't mean there hasn't been some cool stuff in their coverage.

For one thing, in speaking to Ricky Steamboat and Gene Okerland about The Macho Man, they let slip that his inductor is expected (there's that word again) to be Hulk Hogan.  While this is a little disappointing to this writer when I think of how Steamboat choked up talking about Savage and their famous match at WrestleMania III, The Dragon was never known for his microphone work, and the Hulkster will be able to appropriately work the crowd into a frenzy for the historic induction of a man with whom Hogan does have a ton of history.

The Network also spoke to Savage's brother, Lanny Poffo.  This is noteworthy because, after withdrawing his brother's request that the whole family go into the Hall together, the man who worker as The Genius had been quoted as saying that he wanted to be left out of the whole affair. His speaking to WWE to promote the announcement raises hopes that he might accept the honor on Randy's behalf at the ceremony in San Jose, California on March 28th.

When asked for what he thought when he heard the news, Poffo said:

I had no thoughts. I was so excited. Intellectually, there was nothing. It was all emotional. I was happy for the fans. They waited for Bruno Sammartino for so many years and now they waited for Macho Man.

Stay with us throughout the evening Cagesiders, and we'll bring you all the news about this exciting announcement as we get it.
