Brie Bella: Not ready to retire but 'fighting baby fever'

Total Divas is a reality television show on the E! channel that isn't really based in reality at all. Not only does it cover professional wrestling, an entirely scripted spectacle, but if you've watched it for any length of time it's clear much of its content is produced inorganically.

That's what makes interviews like the one Brie Bella recently did with Eonline.com difficult to decipher.

In the interview, Brie talks about getting closer to leaving the wrestling industry to settle down and have kids now that she's married to current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan:

"I'm fighting my baby fever so bad. My boots aren't ready to be hung up quite yet in the wrestling ring but they're getting pretty close. All my friends and cousins are having babies and it's hard not to want to join in on that."

It's entirely possible she's being completely honest here. It's also entirely possible this is new era kayfabe and she's simply setting up and pushing potential stories for future episodes of Total Divas, which was renewed for a third season that will begin airing on Sept. 7, 2014.

There's also the matter of ongoing storylines on WWE's flagship program, Monday Night Raw. This past week's episode saw Stephanie McMahon give Bryan an ultimatum: Either he relinquishes the WWE world heavyweight title or Brie will be fired.

In fairness, Brie is 30-years-old now and now that she's married -- the wedding will air this Sunday (June 1, 2014) as part of the Total Divas season two finale, stupidly enough in direct competition with Payback -- she could very well be planning her exit strategy.

We'll see how television stories play out over the next couple months.
