WWE Payback 2014 rumors and match card line-up

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Payback show set to take place on Sun., June 1, 2014, at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. This is the second straight year this show has taken place at this arena and in this city, and this year's show will be interesting if only because CM Punk won't be there.

We're three weeks out from showtime and not a single match is official for the card but there are rumors of what it will eventually look like. These are just rumors and this could change, so keep that in mind:

- Daniel Bryan vs. Kane (WWE world heavyweight championship)

The initial idea for the main event was Bryan vs. Batista but for whatever reason -- and a million different things have been reported -- the latter didn't want to do it. That means we get yet another Bryan vs. Kane bout, rumored to be a Buried Alive match. If nothing else, that would represent a blow off for the feud and possibly a write off for Kane's character. Seems soon since he just brought back the mask but we're definitely inching toward his no longer having a presence on TV.

- Evolution vs. The Shield

This is a plan, at least according to rumors, in part because of the fact that Batista refused to work with Bryan again. It also makes sense to keep this program going because, well, it's probably the best thing on WWE TV at present time. They tore the house down at Extreme Rules and the hot Chicago crowd should heap plenty of praise on every performer here.

- John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt

This feud is obviously continuing but there's no telling what the added stipulation will be for this one. It's possible they go with Last Man Standing, as is usually the case with Cena feuds revolving around a story of a monster heel trying to keep him down.

- Adam Rose vs. Jack Swagger

They've been building to this in the couple shows Rose has appeared on since his debut but it's hard to imagine this will do anything but die a death in front of a smart crowd. That said, the response could help determine Rose's immediate future.

That's it for rumors so far, Cagesiders. You like it?
