Sometime all the way back in 2012, Jason David Frank, a former cast member from Power Rangers, the popular kids television series, was tossing around the idea of fighting CM Punk in a mixed martial arts (MMA) bout.

The subject was actually broached at a Punk Q&A and he agreed to it:

Now, with news out that Punk could be done with WWE for good, talk has turned to his entertaining MMA. His trainer, Rener Gracie, thinks he could be successful and UFC President Dana White doesn't seem totally opposed to the idea of it.

But it's Frank who is the first to publicly challenge Punk to the fight that he first floated out a couple years ago. From his Instagram:

So now that CM punk is out of his contracts and wants to do MMA. Why not me? He already said he fight me. I got this on video from a fan. Come on CM punk we could make this a awesome fight. Plus his weight is way down. ... I'll make any weight to make this happen!!

There's almost zero chance this ever comes to fruition, but at least the possibility appears to be there considering the current state of Punk's professional wrestling career.

For the record, his contract has yet to officially run out. That won't happen until July, so even if he's actually legitimately entertaining the idea of MMA, he won't be able to act on it until the summer.
