John Cena hopes a Stone Cold Steve Austin WWE return is 'imminent'

J. Meric

Recently, there's been an increase in rumors surrounding Stone Cold Steve Austin possibly making a return to WWE for one more match. Some of this was due to comments "The Rattlesnake" made himself during a podcast, but those may have been taken out of context or misinterpreted altogether.

That hasn't stopped the rumor mill from churning.

It also hasn't stopped media from asking currently active stars about the matter, as happened to John Cena while doing promotional work in Malaysia (via The Rakyat Post):

When asked if he would face Steve Austin for a "dream" Wrestlemania match just like his previous match with The Rock, he did not rule it out.

"I hope that his return to the ring is imminent. He has been training really hard and is in great shape," he said during his Q&A session at the Saujana Resort in Shah Alam before his participation in the WWE Live in Malaysia event later in the day.

When Cena appeared on Austin's podcast earlier this year, he outright campaigned for Stone Cold to lace up the boots one more time. In addition, Austin has made no secret that he believes he could get more out of Cena than anyone in WWE today.

Perhaps one day we'll find out.

Would you be on board for it?
