Stephanie McMahon: WWE would love to bring WrestleMania back to Chicago

CM Punk wasn't the only Chicago related topic Stephanie McMahon was asked about when she was making the media rounds promoting this week's episode of Monday Night Raw, which emanated from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. No, she was also asked about WWE bringing WrestleMania back to the "Windy City".

Her response (via ChicagoNow.com):

"I would say we would love to have that happen again. Like I said before these fans are the most energetic, engaged and passionate fans and Chicago is a huge part of the WWE history. Nothing can be announced officially, but we would love to come back for another WrestleMania."

The last time WWE ran Chicago for its biggest show of the year was WrestleMania 22, featuring John Cena retaining the WWE championship over Triple H in the main event. That was also the last "Showcase of the Immortals" to be held in an arena as opposed to a stadium.

Despite the potential complications due to weather, WWE has shown (WrestleMania 29 in New Jersey) that it will run a cold weather city at an outdoor stadium in early April. You would think, then, that Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears, wouldn't be out of the question.

Then again, would anyone want a WrestleMania in Chicago sans CM Punk?

WrestleMania 31 will run Santa Clara, California next year at Levi's Stadium and the hot rumor is that WrestleMania 32 will be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. So even if Chicago gets another WrestleMania, it likely won't be for a number of years.
