WWE is currently embarked on an overseas tour with both the Raw and SmackDown brands. Over on the SmackDown side, the crew worked in Cape Town, South Africa, tonight (July 30, 2013) and all went just fine.
Oh, except for a crazed fan somehow getting past security, jumping into the ring, and low blowing him before getting tossed by security. Seriously.
Here's the video:
That footage should stay up for a while because WWE.com linked straight to it from an article discussing the subject posted not long ago. Here's a snippet:
Footage of the attack was captured by a WWE fan and posted to YouTube, and shows the perpetrator striking Orton from behind. The matter is currently under investigation by the local authorities, and the South African fan is being held in jail pending criminal charges.
They played up Orton being hurt by saying they are unclear the extent of his injuries, but he's obviously doing just fine.
Still, this was a massive breakdown in security and this could have gone far worse than it did. Thankfully the crazed fan was only crazy enough to go with the old Ric Flair low blow than anything that would have put Orton's life in danger.
