Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com has reported that the current favourites to headline the WWE Hall Of Fame induction ceremony on the weekend of WrestleMania 30 in 2014 will be D-Generation X.
This comes as no surprise due to the fact that the stable was considered by WWE management to main event this year's ceremony before the deal with Bruno Sammartino had been finalised. Once Sammartino was onboard, along with Mick Foley, Donald Trump, Bob Backlund, Booker T and Trish Stratus, then DX's services weren't necessary. It would have been overkill to have them go in too and thus it made sense to hold them back for another year where they could be the star attraction.
Where things get down right shocking though is that Chyna (aka Joanie Laurer) may be invited to be inducted alongside Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn and X-Pac.
Yes, the woman that was the long-term girlfriend of Triple H until he cheated on her with his then onscreen wife and now real-life wife too Stephanie McMahon.
Yes, the same woman that when she was the last person in the company to find out about the affair apparently called up Vince McMahon who closed a strange conversation with "I hope you don't get fired for this" before abruptly hanging up on her.
Yes, the same woman that had a volatile relationship with Sean "X-Pac" Waltman during which time the couple made an highly embarrassing amateur sex tape and sold it to a porn DVD company that dubbed it "1 Night In China" so they could use her WWE ring name without being sued by the promotion.
Yes, the same woman that was once arrested for domestic assault when she beat up Waltman in front of his young children.
Yes, the same woman that recently starred in a Royal Rumble inspired porn movie entitled Queen Of The Ring which mocked Vince, Stephanie and Hunter.
Yes, the same woman that has had a long history of substance abuse issues, which culminated in her passing out three times at a porn convention before being hospitalised in May 2012.
According to Johnson, Chyna has had some early communications with WWE about the possibility of a Hall Of Fame induction and it's something that might genuinely happen. Of course, I'll believe this when I see it, given all of Chyna's baggage mentioned above and the bad blood on both sides.
In November 2011, Chyna heavily lobbied for a WWE return on the Howard Stern Show and on YouTube, but those pleas fell on deaf ears. So I imagine that Laurer would be chomping at the bit to be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame. However, I'm not sure all of her former DX comrades would be so keen on the idea of sharing the stage with her. It would certainly make for an interesting speech if it comes to pass!
