YES! YES! YES! Daniel Bryan vs. John Cena WWE championship match set for SummerSlam

It's official: Daniel Bryan will challenge John Cena for the WWE championship at the SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) on Sun., Aug. 18, 2013, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Yes! Yes! Yes!

WWE wasted absolutely no time booking its WWE championship match for the SummerSlam pay-per-view scheduled for Sun., Aug. 18, 2013, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Indeed, just one night after the Money in the Bank event blew the doors off the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Monday Night Raw invaded Brooklyn with an awesome show that featured John Cena, the current titleholder, getting the chance to choose his next opponent.

But he didn't want to make the choice. Not by himself, anyway.

Instead, he asked for the fans input under the guise that, well, they're always honest with him -- even if it means booing him out of the building, depending on the geographical location -- and in the spirit of that, he wanted the crowd's input. He ran through a list of worth contenders, like Randy Orton and Sheamus, and not so worthy, like Great Khali and Heath Slater.

In the end, the audience at the Barclay's Center in New York made it clear: Daniel Bryan is our man and he deserves his shot at the title, damn it.

So Cena, after a fairly lame tease that he wouldn't, selected Bryan and the so called WWE Universe went ape shit. The match is on for the biggest party of the summer and Bryan, an indie darling who never had the size or look a company like WWE has ever looked for in its main event level talent, is about to work opposite the promotion's biggest star on one of its biggest stages with the title bearing the company's name on the line.

YES! YES! YES!

Here's the updated SummerSlam match card and line-up:

- CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar
- Daniel Bryan vs. John Cena
