Although this part is just a formality, WWE has made it official that Triple H and Brock Lesnar will meet inside the ring for the third time on Sun., May 19, 2013, at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view (PPV) at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Only this time it's a steel cage match.
From the WWE.com preview:
Triple H narrowly avoided early retirement at the hands of Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, but if The Game thought his trouble with Lesnar would end at The Grandest Stage of Them All, he had another thing coming.
Having split two notoriously high-impact battles at SummerSlam and WrestleMania, The King of Kings and "The Beast Incarnate" will settle the score once and for all at Extreme Rules, and the rubber match will be held in the most inhospitable of environments: the steel cage.
One would assume this match was set up so Lesnar could go up 2-1 in the series after jobbing to "The Game" at WrestleMania 29 this past April 7 in New Jersey. That was after Brock tapped Trips at SummerSlam last year. This way, Triple H gets to keep the option to come back and wrestle sometime down the road while giving Lesnar another win albeit at a PPV event with far less prestige than "The Showcase of the Immortals."
Unless "The Asskicker" wins again, in which case you can just throw all this out the window and chalk another one up to ego.
Here's the updated Extreme Rules match card:
- John Cena vs. Ryback
- Dolph Ziggler vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger
- Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar
